His real name is Adebayo Adekunle but in the music world, he is popularly called K Melody. He is a popular Juju musician, who is currently making waves in the industry. City People played host to him weeks ago in a colourful event that had many of his fans and music lovers in attendance. Adekunle, a Lagos State Polytechnic graduate in Business Administration has one album to his credit and is married with two kids.
He started his music career from church and was inspired by his friends who sang with Sir Shina Peters. Enjoy the brief chat CityPeople’s PRECIOUS POMAA had with him.
How do you feel about today?
I am very glad to be here today, it is an interesting event, all by the special grace of God. It is colourful and I appreciate the people who are here to support and celebrate with me.
How stressful was it to you to do all these?
I would not say it is really stressful, because whatever you commit into the hands of God will be handled perfectly. Though the stress is there, but we thank God for who He is and for taking charge.
What kind of music do you sing?
I play all kinds of music, basically secular and I can also tune into any kind of music, well I play all very well. So that is why I am called “Mr. Secular”.
How did you get into music?
I started from church, got inspired by my girlfriend and friends who played with Sir Shina Peters.
How do you get inspiration?
I get my inspiration from God Almighty.
What is your family background like?
I am married with two children, I like to keep my family out of the matter.
Educational background
I got HND in Business Administration from Lagos State Polytechnic, I also got an OND at Yabatech. I was once an Assistant Lecturer at Lagos State Polytechnic, Oregun Annex, I wrote a book which is coming out soon. (Maximisation of Female Youthfulness).
In five years, where do you see yourself?
Wow! Higher height, greater glory, by this time next year, not to talk about five years, I am going to be in my higher places, that is because I have lots of plans on ground, before next year, God is going to do it for me. It is higher ground, greater glory.
Explain your sounds in five words?
My sound is unique, in the sense that I have my songs (composed), beat and instrument. Anyone who listens to my song feels joy from within his/her heart. It is assured that if you listen to my songs you just have to love one out of them. (Smile).
Are you working with any record label and what is your relationship with the label like?
Yes, I have a record label. My Marketer is side land flip and music, we have a very good relationship, he has been very supportive. He is also my promoter, he gives me shows. My second album is on the way and I pray it is better than the first one.
How do you feel about the artist that performed?
In fact, they are just wonderful. Even before I could say anything, my fans said all the artists around are all doing well.
