  • She Is The District Gov. Of ROTARY Inter District 9110

At the just concluded City People Awards For Excellence, Rotarian Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie was honoured for her remarkable leadership role in society.  Her title in Rotary is a very big one. She is the District Governor of Rotary International District 9110. Lets tells you about this beautiful Rotarian called Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie. She is a very popular woman in Rotary. She is well loved and respected by members. She is a seasoned member of Rotary International. She is currently the District Governor of Rotary International District 9110 for the year 2023-2024. Her district covers all the Rotary Clubs, in Lagos and Ogun State. Its made up of about 150 clubs. So you can imagine how tough her job is.

What many don’t know is that this stunning beauty is a very brilliant and accomplished professional. She is a Stockbroker and Commodity dealer. She is the National Vice Chairman of Association of Securities Dealing House of Nigeria (ASHON).

A few days back, City People spent some time with her at her Rotary Centre office in Ikeja GRA, Lagos and she revealed the onerous task before her as the District Governor of Rotary District 9110.

For many years, she has been a valued member of Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro where she has contributed immensely. Now, she is doing same at the district level.

What is her job as DG, we asked her? “My job as District Governor is to supervise and oversee 150 Rotary Clubs within District 9110. I visited them regularly and make sure all is well in all these clubs. I am to be sure that they do things within the Rotary year, in line with the goals and aspirations of our RI International President, who is the President of the world And to be sure that they are touching humanity, that they are touching lives, within their communities, in the way they are supposed to.”

“So, as a DG, I am mandated to visit every club, at least once. We call it D.G’s Visit. That once is for me to have a Board Meeting with the Board Members of the club and then look at their books and see how they have set thier goals with Rotary International Club Central, which is where they are supposed to upload their goals, online, for RI President and once the other district leaders to be able to assess the goals for the district. So, I go round all the clubs, look at their books, have Board Meetings with them and be sure that they are ready for the year and that they are set to carry out projects within their communities that will touch lives, because the Motto of Rotary Foundation is: doing good in the world. Our job is to continue to touch the less priviledged within our society and to put laughter in the faces of those that have no hope and to give them hope.”

DRADAMS

“Every year, the RI President will come up with a Theme, for the Rotary year. And the theme for this Rotary year is: Create Hope In The World! So, how do we create hope in the world? It is by touching lives,”by doing what we know how to do best. We do a Need Assessment within our communities to find out what they need and then we begin to provide.

How do we provide money? We don’t have money. Everything we do is either through donation, support from high networth individuals or support from government which is what we call on government to do all the time.”

They have not supported us enough. They should be partnering with Rotary, by now, to do larger projects within our community, because we have the network and we have the platforms with which to do this.

“Everytime, government is looking for how to do palliatives. Rotary has all the network, because we are in every community round the world and all over Nigeria.”

“In Nigeria alone, we have 4 districts.

This is one of the districts. We have other districts in the East and the North and in the South-East. So, that is what we do, as Rotarians”.
