A Lawmaker at the Lagos state House of Assembly representing Epe constituency 2, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu has donated more than 5000 packs of relief packages to his constituents in order to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
He distributed the packages through their Community Development Associations and Traditional Rulers, with a bid to ameliorate the hardship posed by the ravaging scourge of COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the newsmen, Ogunkelu stated that the initiative is to complement the efforts of the state government.
“The relief packages is poised towards alleviating the sufferings of my constituents while the scourge of COVID-19 pandemic last.
“We are doing this to complement the efforts of the State Government to help the people to stay at home and safe from being infected with the virus.
“The number of patients discharged from the isolation centre in the state shows the effectiveness of the government” Sylvester said.
Meanwhile, Ogunkelu advised his constituents to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures as put forward by the medical experts in order to contain the spread of the deadly disease.
He noted that the consequence of not adhering to the medical instructions may risk the country of uncontrollable death, praying that it won’t be portion of the constituents and the country at large.
“ I want you to know that I share your pains. You have voted for me and I am obliged to represent you well at the House of Assembly.
“We should know that one cannot do anything in life without life itself; hence, we must strictly adhere to the directives of the medical experts by washing our hands regularly, usage of face masks and sanitizers.
“Don’t let us join them in saying that the virus is not real. It is very real. Please! May not lose any of our loved ones to this deadly disease in Jesus name.
“Let’s all be guided and act in accordance to the directives of the health experts since it is their area of expertise.
“Let us also stop joining people saying that the virus is not real. I am here to confirm to you that it is real and that is why we have various isolation centres in the state” He said.
