HOW 2 MUSIC CONCERTS SHUT DOWN LAGOS ON SATURDAY

Have you heard of Detty December, if no then this December is the real definition of detty December which simple means fun fun till the last date in December. As we all know, December is a season where many travel out to different countries and states to go relax and have some fun. But a lot will still prefer to stay back in Lagos and have the experience that it gives without disappointing.  On Saturday 7th December, there were over 5 events in Lagos with two on the same venue, which is Cardi B and Merry bet. These two events had the same artistes on their line up but guess what all of them still turned up at each.

This two events caused massive traffic on the island, most people had to park their cars on the road because heading front was traffic and heading back too was the same thing. The competition these two events brought was amazing in the history of Nigerian concerts. Many thought because Cardi B headlined livespot it was going to be more of a shut down than Merrybet. The two events had their ways as the artistes first went to Cardi B to kill the show before they got back to Merry bet to do what they know how to do best.   Merrybet fans celebrity challenge is an event which has been on for over 7 years now, this event takes place every December with some previous editions in July having different celebs participating in sport related tasks, especially football.

It  is a night that no one ever wants to miss, all celebrities in Lagos are usually in attendance. The event was hosted by very own Kiibati and Brodashaggi on the 7th of December at the Eko Atlantic waterfront, it was powered by Merrybetsports with it project manager being Dami Adenuga and refreshed by fearlessng. This concert had many artiste in attendance with all of them playing sport related games. They event looked boring from they start, Untill Terry Apala stepped on stage to thrill fans then Pasuma followed up after Terry’s performance. The entire crowd came alive. They screamed so loud as the line up of artistes after then was massively craze for fans  having their favourite artiste jumping on stage. The part which trilled the fans more, was when they had Burna Boy, Naira Marely, Zlatan and Raman Jago on the same stage. The excitement they brought was mouth watering. The night was one amazing night, there was no dull moment, the whole place was filled to the brim with no space to put your legs. This concert was no doubt a sold out concert. Merry bet never disappoints its guests. For over 7 years  they have remained relevant. Teni also had the best performance of the night as she sang all her hit songs and added the comedy part of her to her performance. 

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (born October 11, 1992), known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper, songwriter, actress, and television personality. Born in Manhattan and raised in The Bronx, New York City, she became an internet celebrity after several of her posts and videos became viral on Vine and Instagram. Talking about livespot having Cardi B to headline the event, they made no  mistake bringing the international Act to Nigeria. It  was not a bad idea as everyone was happy to see her in person, she was also excited to be in Nigeria, many Nigerian artistes appreciated her and Cubana Lagos hosted her after her sold out concert. The concert is still a talked about concert in and out of Lagos as she killed the show dressed in green and white, the colors of the Nigerian flag, the rapper performed many of her hit songs including ‘Bodak Yellow’, ‘Get up 10’ and ‘Lick.’Her performance got a lot of positive comments from fans who took to social media to express their excitement. along side other celebrities who performed at the event. Tiwa Savage made a thrilling appearance at Cardi B’s concert over the weekend. Tiwa is our very own number one African bad girl and seeing her perform at the concert of the ‘baddest babe ’ in the world music industry is something that surely must have excited a whole lot of people. The atmosphere was all set for Tiwa’s performance and she delivered to the crowd a hundred percent showmanship. She performed songs like “All Over,” “Malo” and a lot of more. The crowd enjoyed themselves a lot. It surely wouldn’t have occurred to many that Niniola is one hell of a musical performer if not for the Cardi B concert at the Eko Atlantic last Saturday. The “Maradona” singer delivered to the watching crowd a really glorifying performance, having a truly contagious fun on the stage with the performance of her several hit songs. The likes o f “Maradona,” “Sicker” and few more made the night of thousands of people at the concert as well as her “Zanku” skills. She too in the mad excitement of the moment removed her wig and showed you all the true nature of her head. They were many amazing performances at the event that thrilled many fans with celebrities like Pretty Mike, Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, Darey who had livespot put the event together. Cardi B had so much fun to the extent of adopting a Nigeria name  The American rapper announced on Instagram that she adopted the Nigerian name ‘Chioma’ which means ‘good god’ in Igbo language, popularly spoken in the eastern part of the country. She posted a video of herself with the caption ‘Chioma B’, a move that thrilled many of her Nigerian fans.But it wasn’t all fun and parties. Cardi B shopped for groceries at an upscale supermarket in the city and donated the items to an orphanage.Hip-hop executive, Brooklyn Johnny, who accompanied her on the trip said the rapper bought as many items as their cars could hold. She had a whole lot of fun in Nigeria, she is already missing Nigeria, as she is trying to pay a visit back to the amazing country to have more fun. 

These two events had their own exclusive fun that they served different kinds of people that attended the event as it also had the Island blocked as everyone wanted to attend both shows. Merry bet is a yearly event that’s usually fun so no one could afford to miss it, Cardi B was also in Nigeria for the first time and her fans couldn’t afford to miss the chance to see her. So they had to work out a way so they could both share venue.
