Distinguished Gentlemen of the Island Club,
I have the instruction of the Chairman of the Island Club, Omo’ba Dr. Rotimi Olasode Martins, KCOP, to convey, with a profound sense of elation and renewed confidence, the welcome news that the 2025 Constitution of the Island Club, as approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), is now ready and shall take effect in accordance with its provisions.
This represents a significant milestone in the continuing evolution of our great Club and marks an important step towards the restoration of constitutional and institutional order, strengthened corporate governance, transparency and accountability in the administration of the Club.
Accordingly, and subject to the requisite approval and formal action of the Management Committee, arrangements shall be made for the postponed 2025 Annual General Meeting and the 2026 Half-Year General Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 21st October 2026, in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Constitution.
The Management Committee shall henceforth commence the implementation of the Constitution and take all consequential steps required to give full effect to its provisions and the governance framework established thereunder. Printed copies of the Constitution shall also be made available to members sufficiently in advance of the General Meetings to enable members to acquaint themselves with its provisions.
On behalf of the Chairman and the Management Committee, we express our profound appreciation to the Board of Trustees of the Island Club, under the distinguished leadership of Chief (Arc.) Anthony M. Soetan, SCOP; the Constitution Review and Harmonisation Committee, ably led by Hon. Justice Prince (Dr) Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi, GCOP, and all well-meaning members of the Club for their steadfast support, patience and confidence in the process that has culminated in this important governance milestone.
With the Constitution now providing the operative framework for the administration of the Club, we look forward to a new chapter founded on constitutional compliance, institutional integrity, accountability and responsible stewardship, in furtherance of the enduring values and traditions of the Island Club.
