•Talks About Her Controversial Skin Disease

The year 2019 has been a successful and busy year for the delectable actress, Halima Abubakar who is a talented and hard-working actress. She has been busy featuring in movies. Besides being a fantastic actress, Halima is a businesswoman, a philanthropist, a youth’s ambassador and a brand ambassador to lots of companies And she takes her job very seriously. She also does not takes nonsense from anybody.

In this interview with City People Senior Showbiz Reporter, BIODUN ALAO, she talked about why a lot of people tend to always misunderstand her posts on Instagram. Her rumored pregnancy, why she decided to write a book about her many pain in life, and the ordeal with a skin reaction.  Below are the excerpts.

The year 2019 has been a very busy and successful year for you with loads of endorsement deals. What is the secret?

I would say, it’s consistency I have been very consistent, even when I was not available, even when it was not convenient. I don’t really know what the companies saw in me though, but I just give  God almighty all the glory. 2019 is definitely Halima’s year and I am super grateful for it. I will give God the glory for giving the strength to do it. By God’s grace, there will be more from where that came from, this just the beginning of what is coming ahead so I am very grateful to everyone for the support and love.

Would you say, you went extra miles to achieve all these?

No, I would rather say it’s just God’s time for me. And also they all came to past God sees my heart and granted me all my heart desires.

You tend to concentrate more on endorsement and shooting commercials than featuring in movies this year, I was that deliberate?

No, I truly had a lot of endorsement deals this year, but I equally featured in a good number of movies. I feel that is fair enough. I don’t want to overdo it and break down, because I will be the one to take care of myself when I break down. I did what it’s necessary to do, and then the endorsement came. Honestly, they are both not easy at all because I still have to shoot lots of videos under the same light. it is even more stressful than shooting a movie. This is a commercial; we have a photoshoot, press conference and lots of other stuff. It is not a task but is, glad for the opportunities.

What project are you working on currently?

I’m currently working for Golden Beauty Skin Care Products, I’m working for formula one brand ambassadorship and also hopeful that one day, I will become Pepsi brand ambassador and other reputable companies, such as Air Peace. I’m looking forward to a large, multi-million dollars salary paying endorsement. Laughs!!!

How do you manage and cope with so many looks and photoshoots here and there?

I have been doing this since I was 14 years. it’s something that I am used to. for one to still be there it is not an easy thing, especially in this our wicked industry. To be here it is a privilege and thanks to some great fans, not the ones that fool and bully celebrities. Though I give God the glory. I’m winning and I don’t have to apologise for that.

You will be launching your book next year, what inspired it?

I have been saying this for 9 years, so it is about time. I need to just bring it out. I have a lot of things to tell. I have a lot of stories to share. It’s 9 years coming and it is finally coming out in 2020. I’m tired of procrastinating. I don’t want Nigerians to be shocked. I am going to be very truthful and that is my story. If anybody has any contrary opinion to what I have written, they are welcomed to challenge me, that is why I titled it ‘Do not interrupt me ‘’. I’ m going to be all real. If you interrupt me, then we will bring what we want to bring out.  At least, this is my book and my story, if you have what you want to talk about you can write your own story. That is why it is an experience.

What inspired the writing of the book?

All the pains I have gone through inspired writing the book.

Can you talk about the skin issue you went through for 6 months and how you were able to overcome it?

I am someone that really doesn’t care about what people say and all that. But when it comes to people I  take as friends, then I take it seriously. Don’t mind Nigerians with their over-zealous and judgmental attitude. Like if they have Chickenpox, Pimples, they would say their village people send something to them. They will just sit down and start talking nonsense there. I had a serious skin reaction; I don’t know if it was Acne, only God knows, but it was all over my body People who saw me without makeup were shocked that I had such a beautiful skin so learnt on to encourage people, that no matter what issue they have with their skin, they are beautiful and should be confident about their looks, instead of dying in self-pity. They should not use makeup to mask their faces.  Because of what people will say or something. You will just be sad, while people mocking you will move on with their lives and those friends laughing at you then pretend to your face.  Acting oh! They love me too much, I just look at all of them and laugh so because of that I made up my mind to put this out since they are using it to gossip. I brought out that video for people to see, in case the so-called friends are talking about it, so I posted it so that their talks or gossips can stop. It is my life. I have cleaned it. It is my face and I’m happy with my life. If they still have any problems regarding that, they should take it to God. I don’t have any apology or explanation to render to anybody. I have cleaned myself. If I was still looking like that, they would say, Oh! Halima is unkept now, that I am looking beautiful. They said Halima is bleaching. Then what? yes, I bleached out what is supposed to be bleached out, I don’t know what the problem is, please kindly let me be. In the year 2020, I don’t want to address anything like this anymore; I want to talk about my success.  Enough of the pain, they don’t have an idea of what that caused me, they don’t know what that has denied me, so I have had enough.

How were you able to overcome that particular incident?

Honestly, I didn’t overcome it as you can see, I’m talking with so much pain and danger. It can never go because only I know what I actually went through during that process and it is not something I can actually explain, but I am really glad it is gone.

How true it is that Halima is pregnant for a married man?

The problem with Nigerians is that they don’t just take their time to read through things properly on Instagram, and they just jump into a conclusion. I said something they misunderstood it. what am I expected to do? I just let them be. I can’t keep explaining myself all the time, so when they said I was pregnant, to me it is prayer so I accepted it. I Halima Abubakar will get married when I want to my own husband that God has destined for me. They should not help me monitoring my womb for me, they should not help me monitor love life. They should not monitor whatever goes into my uterus or in between my legs or whatever. It is necessary they mind their business; pregnancy and whatever and let me be. I can get a chicken and call it motherhood it is my business it is easy to take care of them and feel them if  I have a dog I can tag it motherhood. Sharing my time is motherhood, so why just conclude I am pregnant and you are congratulating me, thank you the baby is coming and the baby’s name is Tata laughs!!!.

How do you relax with all these work and tight schedules?

I travel a lot. I can be around and put Lagos on my location. I don’t like to announce myself, and when I decide to rest, I don’t like anybody to disturb.  I have done my best so I create time to rest. I love to sleep a lot. I love going to the beach as well. I don’t club. I don’t take alcohol, I’m basically a sea person; I would just stay there and relax my brain.
