Meet 200 Top Celebrities U.I Has Produced At 70

The prestigious University of Ibadan, U.I has clocked 70 years in style; the first sod of the permanent site of the University College as it was called was cut by the then Secretary of State for the Colonies, Arthur Creech Jones, on 17 November 1948. In fact, it has been indeed a celebration galore for the Premier University as U.I is popularly called. Not only that a lot of activities have mapped out to celebrate the landmark achievements of the school at 70, interestingly a whole year has been declared as celebration period, starting from October 2018 to November 2019. It is indeed a well-deserved celebration of a university known to be the first in Nigeria. U.I, being the first, has an edge above other universities in the country; it has a very rich history. The very first set of professors in Nigeria are mainly products of U.I. Then, all the lecturers were whites. So they had the very best in terms of training and educational curricular. 

As the school celebrates its 70 years anniversary however, it has become imperative to talk about the great brains U.I has produced. Below is the list of 200 prominent alumni of the University of Ibadan. Who have done or still doing wonderful well across different sectors of the economy of the country. The list cuts across Art and Sciences, Humanitarian etc.It is a known fact that U.I has produced many great men and women but not many know that the likes of Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; Late poet and writer Pa Adebayo Faleti; former I.G, Sir Mike Okiro; a professor of Gynecology, Obstetrics and former Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Yinka Omigbodun; a popular art critic and painter, Mike Omoighe;   Prof. Wande Abimbola; the great Chinua Achebe;  Prof. Akinwumi Ishola; a foremost technocrat and administrator, Chief Gamaliel Onosode; a great writer, Prof. Femi Osifisan; Prof. Bolanle Awe; a prominent lawyer and Head of Department of History at U.I, Prof. CBN Ogbogbo; Journalist cum Fiction writer, Tolu Ogunlesi; educational administrator and former V.C O.A.U, Prof. Idowu Bantale Omole; Prof. Jubril Aminu; a leader of Afenifere Prof. Ayo Adebanjo; former I.G Sunday Ehindero; Col.
