One of the popular schools in Nigeria is Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School (OLASS) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. It has produced a lot of accomplished women who are doing well. Below, OMOKEHINDE AKANKE TERIBA is an old student who reports for City People in Ireland. Below she tells us about a few old students.
Beatrice Esedebe, popularly known and called Lady B is a Registered Nurse-RN, based in Dallas U.S.A. “I finished from CLASS, 1977, finished nursing school in Benin 1981, completed my DNAM at Uniben, Worked at specialist hospital, Benin, Delta Steel company, Aladja, NNPC Benin, and UBTH, before moving to England, where I worked at Newcastle Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital Sidcup as a charge nurse, ICU. I moved to the US. 1997, worked at Medical City Dallas for about 15 years, in ICU, CDU, Ortho- Neuro.
Currently working on the Telemetry unit. It had been a big challenge working in this Covid-Pandemic. My daughter posted this picture in my full PPE, combating Covid, to her social media and it got over 15,000 views and over 500 comments and likes, and, it’s still trending. People wrote lots of encouraging words, strong prayers and inspirational messages. I feel so blessed that so many people are thinking of me and all the healthcare heroes around the world! Please continue to pray for us.”
Mojisola Solaja is a broadcaster with over 15 years of experience. She started her career with Delta Broadcasting Service as a youth corper and was later employed as pioneer newscaster at NTA Ijebu Ode before moving to Ogun State Television (OGTV), where she’s currently a Senior Editor
OmoKehinde Akanke Teriba is of OLASS 86 – 92 set. “I’ve been resident in Ireland for many years. I spent many years working in sales and retail. I also took part in further education, doing some self-improvement courses around computers and administration. I have always been interested in people and their stories, and recently discovered a passion for journalism to go along with my passion for storytelling. That’s why I’ve been writing for City People Magazine for some time now. I love what I do and reaching out to people, hence why I decided it would be lovely to create this project.”
There is also Sowemimo Victoria Olubukola. She has a Higher National Diploma in Microbiology from the Polytechnic, Ibadan.
There is also Winniefred Uwujele, a 1998/2004 set of CLASS
Winnifred Uwujele is a graduate of Applied Biochemistry, a trained, registered and well-experienced educator and a globally certified perfumer. “I am currently the founder and lead perfumer at Winniecense Fragrance Nigeria, a perfumery and Perfume Academy located in Lagos Nigeria.”
“I am a strong believer in the power of the nose and an advocate for people living with Asthma and other allergies.”
There is also Taiwo Adefeyisan, an old student of Our Lady Apostles Secondary School (OLASS). “I’m the 3rd born of the family of Late James Adeboye Adefeyisan. I am from Ogun state. I am a Chartered Marketer .l am based in Lagos. A businesswoman, into selling of bottle water, customised for different occasions like birthday, wedding, naming, etc. I deal with Jewelry, wristwatches, sandals for both male and female.”
There is also Dr Olusola Ladokun ( nee Oyenuga)-1983, a member of the 1988 set OLASS, Medical Practitioner in the United Kingdom
ABOLANLE ONASANYA is another old student. “I currently work as a Construction Contract Manager with Water/Waste Corporation with an educational background in Civil Engineering. I am an old student of Our Lady of Apostle Secondary School Ijebu Ode & happily married.”
Morenike Quadri is a seasoned Educator. She is a Deputy Director of Education with Lagos State Government. She is of the 83/88 Set. She is a Vice Principal in one of the Government Senior Secondary Schools in Lagos State. She studied the English Language at Lagos State University. She is a member of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria. She is a Branch Treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lagos State Wing. The qualities imbibed in her from Class: loyalty, integrity, dedication and love are her watchwords today.
Let’s tell you about Mrs Baruwa Bolanle, an old student of OLASS Ijebu Ode. She is an experienced, hardworking highly motivated and enthusiastic personnel with a proven track record in Insurance Underwriting and Claims. Dr Opeyemi Shoaga is a senior lecturer in Olabisi Onabanjo University. An astute academic and an expert in Early Childhood Education. An Alumnus of Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode (1988), she proceeded to Ogun State University where she bagged a degree in Education with a speciality in English. After her service year, she proceeded to the University of Ibadan where she bagged her masters and PhD degrees in Early Childhood Education. Opeyemi is happily married to Babjide Shoaga and blessed with beautiful children.
