It is no more news that Abeokuta is one of the cities where you can find notable clubs. Indigenes, friends, colleagues, business partners, even family members come together to form an association or club, just for the betterment of the people of the state, town or village they come from. Abeokuta has always been a hub for some of these notable clubs.
Hardly will you see a prominent indigene of Abeokuta, Ogun State who does not belong to one club or the other and they are all doing well in all ramifications. Impacting the lives of people. Involving in different projects. No wonder the government does not joke with many of these notable clubs. There are both older generation clubs as well as clubs for the younger generation and they are making the state proud.
One of such associations doing well in Abeokuta right now is Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club. Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club is from the popular Lions Club International, an association that was founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones in Chicago, USA to provide a platform that services the needs of the society by focusing on each club’s immediate environment. Today, Lions Club International is the global leader in communities in regards to humanitarian services with a membership of over 1.4 million in over 207 countries. The club also remains the only service club with consultative status with the United Nations (UN).
On Saturday, 16th October 2021, Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club appointed a new President, in the person of Alhaji Olawale Saheed Adigun. He was installed as the 2nd President alongside other club officers for the 2021/2022 Lions year. City People covered the elaborate event that took place at the prestigious Amazing Grace Event Centre, situated at Kuforiji Olubi, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Many of the members of this great club are well to do and are doing excellently well in their individual careers.
They are 30 in number, let us introduce them to you. (Lion Alhaji) Olawale Saheed Adigun, a businessman per excellence is the current President of Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club, 2021/2022. Lion Engr. Oluwaseun Mendes, the handsome and young-looking man, is the 1st Vice President. He was the Chairman of their past investiture. What about Lion Akintande Abiodun Ayoola? He was the former President of Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club, and many successes/achievements were recorded during his tenure. Lion Anifowose Olusesan Gafar is the 2nd Vice President while Lion Whedenu Peter Bruno is the Secretary and Service Chairperson. Lion Ogundele, Olalekan Haruna is the Club Treasurer while Lion Olushola Ibrahim Isiaka is the 2nd Secretary of the club. Lion Adelabi Gbenga Samuel has been doing well as the Welfare Director and when it comes to marketing and communication, Lion Hamzat Moshood Abiola has also been doing tremendously well.
Other members of Abeokuta Ruby Lions Club are Lion Ogunlade, Olanrewaju Adekunle, Lion Akinoso Olurotimi Olaniyi, Lion Samudaimen Igbineweka Emmanuel, Lion Ayodele Salio Abraham, Lion Zaccheus Joseph Gbenga, Lion Mustapha Waheed Ayotunde, Lion Olayiwola Abiodun Nurudeen, Lion Abiose Lukman, Lion Solola Olalekan Innocent, Lion Solomon Imole Ayotunde, Lion Aloysius Oluwatoyin Moses, Lion Taiwo Akanbi Ismail, Lion Olukayode Ojuade Adedapo, Lion Oluwatosin Samuel Ogunnaike, Lion Somuyiwa Kamil Olusegun, Lion Hassan Adewale Damilare, Lion Adejumobi Samuel Adedokun, Lion Adekunle Akinbiyi Samuel, Lion Tunde Solola, Lion Afuwape Kayode Olusoga and Lion Abiodun Abdulkareem Raji.
