A few years back, she ran into trouble in the US and after that, she kept a low profile. It was speculated that the beautiful actress went into hiding in Ibadan and stayed off social scene after deputation from the U.S., and some of her colleagues in the industry like Liz Da Silva reached out to her on her birthday message, according to her “Please darling you need to put something behind you and take the next step…
Come back to life as our ever-smiling Lola Margaret. Note… those who say bullshit about you got nothing to offer, so keep your head upright and move on honey. And if truly you are around my shoulders are available okay. I love and miss you, my darling friend”.

The ever-smiling actress, who stepped out to celebrate her friend and sister Biodun Okeowo on her 2 in one ceremony, granted her first interview with City People’s BIODUN ALAO and SUNDAY ADIGUN on what really went wrong, how she got implicated in the U.S. fraud scandal, how it got so bad. She revealed how she considered ending it all, and how she was able to bounce back through a few friends in the industry. Below are the excerpts.
What have you been up to since you relocated to Nigeria?
Actually, I just got back and I have been trying to put myself together, back to work I just released one of my movies titled “Komolu”. I am trying to do, go back to business and do more things for myself.
Why did you relocate to America at the first place?
The truth is that I never planned to relocate to America, I only went there because of my male friend, we were planning to formalize the relationship and also get my papers done and it is a process that requires me, staying there for a while, before it can be done.
So what is the relationship between you both like now?
I don’t want to talk about, I don’t enjoy discussing my relationship on papers that is my personal life and I like it very private.
How did acting start for you?
I started acting while I was still in school Lagos State University 100 level when a friend of mine introduced me to acting.
She told me about it and I started picking interest in it, one particular day, when she was travelling to a location in Abeokuta I followed her. She introduced me to Mr. Latin, from there, the late Alasari gave a role to play, I went through the script and delivered my role perfectly and that was the movies that shot me to the limelight. titled “Bisola Alaanu” and that was how acting started for me.
Can you use this opportunity to tell your fans, your own side of the story, concerning the fraud case in the U.S.?
I don’t really have much to say about what really happened to me, but I just want to thank God Almighty for his mercy and grace upon my life. I wish to thank my friend for standing by me all through the ordeal. I was a victim of circumstances, in this life you have to pass through some things to learn. What really happened to me was that a friend of mine introduced me to someone, which we became friends. He asked for my account to do business. We do business together. So he asked for my account to transfer money into it. I gave it to him, as a friend. At the long run, he wired a huge sum of money into my account. So, the Police came to my house. I was asked some questions and later arrested me. I eventually told them my own side of the story, I got released that same day they also went to arrest the guy in question. So the Police came back to me and said, the guy said I know about the money issue, that was what happened thank God, I was released again, but I was picked up by the immigration and I spent months there before I was eventually deported back to Nigeria.
How were you able to stand on your feet again, after deportation considering the fact that you are a celebrity?
You know, when you are sure of what you have done. I was very sure I didn’t do anything wrong so I had that confidence in me that I did nothing wrong. Though it is difficult for the society to believe you, moreover, how many of them will you keep explaining things to. People are not even ready or willing to listen to me that was the main reason I kept quiet and didn’t grant any interview. Inside me, I know what went wrong.
How would you describe that period?
It was a really terrible experience for me, I was there all by myself no family or what so ever, none of my friends were there. Things I least expected happened to me. I broke down emotionally, It got to a stage the little on the mind, was just to disappear from the surface of this earth, I was like God please take me, I didn’t want to live anymore, I can’t bear this all by myself. But later I realised God made me go through all that because of a particular reason, so I still have things to live for.
When do you hope to settle down?
Very soon, I will be inviting you all for my special day, when I will be working down the aisle with my better half.
What should we, be expecting from Lola Margaret in the next few years?
You should be expecting movie creative and innovative movies from me.
Did you train under any caucus before joining the movie industry?
I didn’t train or join any caucus, but back then, I feature more in movies produced in Ogun State because I stay there but now I am in Lagos.
It was reported that when you got back to Nigeria, you were finding it difficult and shy to step out, how true is that?
That was a big lie, that news was speculated around March and as at then, I was still with the immigration custody. I got back to Nigeria in September 20th, 2018, so I don’t understand where that story came out from. I was still with the immigration, when my friend called me and told me about that, this is what they are saying about you, that I am back and hiding in Ibadan, so I said as you can see, I am still in the U.S. and not held up in Ibadan.
What is the secret of your beautiful look?
My sister, it is God Almighty, and Victoria Beauty Products, Biodun Okeowo was among the few friends that stood by me, and reach out to me, when I got back to Nigeria, she supported me with lots of things, she gave me her products and took me to people who help me to get on my feet again, and with all that, I was able to stand on my feet again.
That is who Biodun Okeowo is, she is not just my friend, but a sister, and that is why I call her my twin sister.
