One of the 57 Local Council Development Areas created 14 years under the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is Orile/Agege Local Council Development Area. The LCDA was created on October 24th, 2003 and it is today being run by a very dynamic, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, who in just 3 months has done a lot to turn around the fortunes of Orile Agege LCDA.

Orile Agege is the home land of the Awori’s and settlers from other parts of the country most settlers from the south west it is multi-ethnic community, the Hausas are predominantly found in Isale Oja, Alfa nla Moricas, the Igbo’s occupy Dopemu, while others are spread all over the Local 130 Government Area. As at the last census exercise, it has an estimated population of (650,000) Six Hundred and Fifty thousand inhabitant, spread across the six wards.
Religious belief in Orile Agege differs from Christian churches ranging from the Baptist, Methodist Cherubim and Seraphin and the Apostolic Faith. The Christian association in Orile Agege is headed by Deacon E.O AJAYI, Islamic faith is also dominant in Orile Agege, the Ansarudden, Nasfat, Ahmadiyyah, and National Council of Muslim Youth (NACOMYO).
An Islamic Institution of repute Moricas al Amadiyyah is located in Orile Agege. Orile Agege Central Mosque at Orile was the first mosque in Agege, Imam Malowo is Chief Imam of the community. The traditional worshippers are synonymous in Orile Agege, as an indigenous community, the traditional institution is well represented, the Alaige of Orile Agege as the Oba, the Baale and district chiefs of Oko-Oba, Tabon Tabon, Alagba, Mulero Papa Ashafa to mention a few.
Egungun festival is predominant in Orile Agege, Oje Parapo and other age group classifications are not as pronounced unlike in other areas like Epe, Island district and Ikorodu.
