The Story Of Lt. Gen. THEOPHILIOUS DANJUMA’s Wife
Senator Daisy Danjuma is a beautiful woman. She is also very stylish too. She wears the best money can buy. She can decide to go Arabian or Medilerrean in her dressing. She can also go English or dress like an Edo woman with beads. She is always simple but classy. She is a Jewellery freak. She wears only Diamond. She can afford it. She is rich. And she is also married to a Billionaire, Lt. Gen. Theophilius Danjuma who is one of the richest men in Nigeria.
The big news is that Senator Daisy Danjuma who clocked 70 not too long ago stepped out at a Lions Club event in Lagos. She came to Lagos Sheraton last Sunday, to support one of her own, Chief Mrs. Ngozi Nkoloenyi who was made the 18th President of Ikeja Viva L’amour Lions Club. She was the Chairperson of the Day and she dazzled everyone at the party as she sashayed into the Banquet Hall. She has a skin that glows. She is also naturally beautiful. And she has a carriage that shows. She is at peace with herself. Although, she was simply dressed in a boubou, a wrapped up headgear and an expensive leather slippers to match, she oozed class.
She is a confident woman. She speaks well. And she never fails to let others know that she likes who God has made her to be. She stood up and delivered her keynote address and all the guests, made up largely of women gave her a resounding clap. Many kept their eyes on this ever gorgeous and ever stunning woman who plays big in Corporate Nigeria.
She is the chairman of May & Baker. She also sits on the Board of above 10 well heeled companies. She is also into Oil & Gas. And she has her legal firm. Don’t forget that she is a Lawyer.
But what many people don’t know about her is how, through her Foundation, she has helped to rehabilitate close to 500 Area Boys on the Island. Not only has she taken them off the street, she has empowered them. She has set them up and many of them here today become SME’s and business owners.
She has also touched so many lives. That is why she has been described as one of the biggest philanthropists of all times.
Daisy Ehanire Danjuma was born 6 August 1952 is a Nigerian politician who was the senator representing the Edo South Senatorial District of Edo State at the Nigerian Senate from 2003 to 2007. She also re-contested during the Nigeria general election in 2011 but was unsuccessful.
She was born in Benin City, Edo State.
Danjuma attended government secondary school in Benin City, Edo State, before studying at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she graduated with a BA in Law in 1976. In 1977, she was called to the Nigerian Bar as a practising lawyer. Danjuma undertook her national service in the NYSC as a State Counsel with the Ministry of Justice of Lagos State, and was a legal counsel to the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria. She worked as an Executive Assistant at Nigerian Acceptances Limited (NAL), a Merchant Bank, from 1977 to 1978. She was Company Secretary/Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from 1982 to 1992. Danjuma was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2003-2007) representing Edo South.
How did she get into Politics? In the 2003 Nigerian parliamentary election, Danjuma was elected senator to represent Edo South constituency of Edo State at the Nigerian National Assembly from 2003 to 2007 under the Action Congress Party (AC). As a senator she served as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs and Youth Development, Member, Senate Committees on Health, Education, Finance and Land Transport of the National Assembly. Being a senator from Nigeria gave Danjuma the opportunity to be a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). She has also served as Chairman, Women and Child Right Committee of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS Parliament). Danjuma contested for second tenure for her senate office during the 2011 Nigeria general election but was unsuccessful and defeated by Ehigie Edobor Uzumere with a margin of almost double of her votes; by 135,346 votes to 70,725. And this shows Uzamere successfully for reelection in the April 2011 elections for the Edo South Senatorial District. After a series of appeals, in June 2009, the court of appeal ruled that Uzamere had in fact been duly elected.
Daisy Danjuma is married to the former military general and Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma who is the founder of the oil exploration company, South Atlantic Petroleum.
