The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has reiterated the Commission’s readiness to fight corruption to a halt warning that, “difficult times awaits treasury looters”.
Magu gave this warning at a cocktail party in honour of the EFCC Detective Inspector Course 4, held at the Nigerian Defence Academy Cadets Mess, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna.
According to him, ““Corruption has dealt a great blow on the socio-economic life of this country, as such treasury looters will no longer be treated with kid gloves. With the recruitment and training of these 161 men and 22 women and with the ongoing training of another batch of 314 officers, the president has fresh hands to start a new offensive against treasury looters in Nigeria”.
The EFCC boss described the training as “a priceless opportunity to serve the country”, advising the cadets not to waste the opportunity through indiscipline and corrupt practices.
“As for the Cadet Inspectors, let me warn you that this is a priceless opportunity to serve your country. We brought you to the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, to teach you discipline and selfless service. Do not waste this opportunity through indiscipline and corrupt practices”, Magu said
He warned the new cadets that the long hand of law will catch anyone of them who abuse his/her office in the course of discharging their duties, as the EFCC has zero tolerance for corruption.
The anti-graft czar thanked the NDA for making the training a success, stating that “the Commission looks forward for more collaboration of this kind”.
