Spiritual Head Of CCC Worldwide, Rev. MOBIYINA OSHOFFA
Have you ever wondered why Celestials or Cele members don’t joke with their Anual Harvest? Of course, almost all churches celebrate their annual harvest, but Celestials attach so much importance to it. Although, it is no news that CCC members celebrate their harvest in a very big and elaborate way, but do you know why? We would tell you.
At the just-concluded 39th Annual Adult Harvest & Thanksgiving Service at Celestial Church of Christ, International Headquarters, Ketu in Lagos, the Pastor and Spiritual Head of CCC Worldwide, His Eminence Rev. Pastor Emmanuel Mobiyina Friday Oshoffa spoke at length on the concept of harvest. He said a lot on why the harvest day is a special day for every member of the church and he also talked about all that should be done during harvest.
Rev. Pastor Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa is the Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), he controls the overwhelming faction of the church, and the Holy Pilgrimage City in Imeko, where the founder, his father, Prophet Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa was buried. Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa is the first son of the founder and he is a strong pillar that holds Celestial Church together. Back to the main gist, what is a harvest?
The gathering of things planted, a natural time of reaping in joy what has been produced during the year. Harvest is spiritual if you remove the spirituality, it becomes a mere show of funfair. But in a spiritual church, everything must be done spiritually. According to him, the word “Harvest” can be defined in various forms all of which can be summarised with one word “Reaping”.
We have the “Harvest of Feast”, Biblically it could be regarded as a feast of presenting the first fruits of one’s labour before the Lord. In this type of harvest, the Lord commanded that no one should appear before Him Empty-Handed.
He also mentioned “Harvest of Fruits”, in Agriculture, it is the act of reaping the fruit of seeds sown earlier in the year and this is usually a joyful exercise. “Harvest Of Reaping In-Kind”, this type of harvest, one reaps exactly the result of his actions, deeds, choices, either good or bad, canal or spiritual. We can also refer to it as the “Law Of Karma”,
This is also similar to Newton’s law of motion, to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Another one that we cannot easily forget is the Harvest of the End Time. He defined it as the Lord’s Harvest.
It is a day Christ has set aside to separate the just (wheat) from the Unjust (Tears/Thorns) and to harvest the just into his barn (Kingdom).
Let us talk about harvest in Celestial Church of Christ (CCC). Harvest is one of the CCC’s Sacraments/Festivals, it is a feast of thanksgiving where members come before the Lord to appreciate His goodness and blessings in their lives.
Worthy of note is the belief that 7 days to the harvest, angels of harvest functions will descend in a Parish to work in the parish. It is a special day for all Celestial members because they have come to reap all their good deeds for the whole year. And also, the angels of God are in their midst to grant all their wishes and requests.
The atmosphere of the harvest, physically and spiritually, is usually different from every other day. Physically, it is characterised by the presence of happy members both young and old. Spiritually, the presence of angelic beings, makes the atmosphere serene and unusual.
Another reason Cele members don’t joke with their Annual Harvest is the spectacular event that is done after the Thanksgiving Service. It is called Harvest Sales or Bazaar Sales. This takes place immediately after the service at the church entrance. Various spiritual and non-spiritual materials are sold and bought by members and non-members (guests) present. The buying of items of Bazaar is done with faith.
For instance, a stick of candle may be sold for an expensive amount but the buyer, even those who are non-members rush to buy them because they understand that they are actually sowing a seed of faith and will reap in folds. The Rev. Pastor Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa also emphasised on the importance of harvest sales.
Another thing they do at the harvest is Individual Food Preparation, they have even taken it to another level as some members now pay caterers/food vendors to bring food to the church, although, some of them still prepare food from home, but most of them pay caterers to do it for them.
Rev. Pastor Emmanuel Oshoffa also spoke about the importance of paying tithe during harvest because any seed you sow during harvest, you will reap in multiple folds.
