Why Many Youths Rush To Global Impact Church

by Isaac Abimbade

Global Impact Church is now very popular in Lagos, especially among the youth. Every Sunday, there is always a large number of people trooping into the church branches across the state.

They have branches in Surulere, Isolo, Lekki, and the Ifako/Ogudu area of Lagos. The founder, Pastor Yemi Davids, established the non-denominational ministry, which is headquartered at The Goodland in Ogudu, Lagos, Nigeria, many years ago and operates multiple branches and expressions internationally. He co-leads the church alongside his wife, Bimbo Davids.

Pastor Yemi Davids is the lead and founding pastor of Global Impact Church and is actively leading his ministry with his wife, Abimbola Davids. The church focuses on raising young people into a deeper walk with God, offering dynamic worship, leadership training, and practical life guidance.

There is also an arm of the church that organizes specialized youth events, conferences (such as the youth tracks at the annual Recharge Conference), and interactive social gatherings like C.R.U.S.H. for music, connections, and discussions on relationships.

Young people “rush” to Global Impact Church (GIC)—headquartered at The Goodland in Ifako, Lagos, Nigeria—because it operates more like a human-capacity development hub than a traditional religious institution.

And Pastor Yemi Davids is widely known for his highly pragmatic approach to preaching. His messages bypass overly abstract religious rhetoric, focusing heavily on Divine Wisdom for Life, which includes holistic teaching on career advancement, forming healthy daily habits, maintaining emotional wellness, and overcoming structural setbacks.

The church encourages “out-of-the-box thinking” and embraces the creative power of the human spirit, which deeply resonates with an innovative youth culture.

And young people are drawn to spaces that match contemporary aesthetic and professional standards.

GIC prides itself on executing “common things in an uncommon way,” emphasizing excellence, high-production media, and modern technology.

And youth are given massive leadership opportunities to run major operations early, from operating advanced media production, cameras, and lights to organizing regional events.

The church prevents the younger demographic from feeling lost in a crowd of older adults by tailoring spaces specifically to them.

There is also teens service, geared specifically toward middle and high schoolers to address peer pressure, identity, and foundational values and there is specialized peer fellowship networks where young people can network, share testimonies, find peer mentorship, and build career friendships.

The church actively champions hospitality, intentionally welcoming people from all backgrounds without harsh moral policing or rigid, outdated traditions. This open-door philosophy provides a safe space for young urbanites navigating modern life to seek spiritual connection at their own pace.

These are some of the initiatives that have attracted thousands of young people into the church. So every Sunday, the church is always filled up with vibrant young ladies and men who genuinely want to be part of the congregation. And Global Impact has now become one of the young people favourite churches in Lagos presently.

Not many people know that Pastor Davids co runs the church with his beautiful wife. He started out from  the University campus over 25 years a go. The ministry which began with about 15 people in the  university of Ife has now become a global brand.

Pastor Yemi Davids may not be as familiar a face as some other front line ministers, however that is changing. An author, pastor, public speaker and radio host, Yemi Davids’ messages are well rounded, with a God-given mandate to teach and impact greatness. Little wonder his TV and radio broadcasts also emphasize teachings in this line. His influence extends beyond the four walls of his church to conferences and trainings in corporate organizations as well as other churches.

This young and dynamic Pastor celebrated his 40 birthday a few months back.

Yemi Davids is the founding pastor of Global Impact Churches with headquarters at The Goodland, Ogudu, Lagos, with multiple expressions in Nigeria and the USA running multiple services every weekend.
