Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has hailed the three tiers of government in the country for bringing their ingenuity to bear in the management of the COVID-19 crisis.
Obasanjo said this during the maiden edition of the Emerging Leaders Masterclass on ZOOM, hosted by Pastor Dotun Ojelabi of the School of Leadership and Governance.
The theme of the masterclass was HOW THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC IS AFFECTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY- WAYS FORWARD.
The masterclass was held to reiterate the need for emerging leaders and youths in Africa and Nigeria to be prepared, empowered, mentored and monitored.
Ojelabi in his submission said; “Since 60% of African population is below age 30, it predisposes that the role of youth is a determinant factor for the success of the African continent.”
He identified the four key needs of the emerging leader as; Education, Skill acquisition, Exposure and Empowerment.
“The role of the Youths in our continent especially our country determines where our continent and our individual countries will grow. 60% of our population are under 30. If the emerging leaders are adequately equipped, this will drive how we grow.
