It was the final journey to life for 14 Nigerian Army personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, battling hard to push Boko Haram out of Nigeria’s northeast.
The bodies of 13 soldiers and an officer were laid to rest in Kaduna on Friday, weeks after they were killed by terrorists in Borno State.
Members of Boko Haram terrorist group, with allegiance to ISIS, had increased their attacks on northeast communities and military locations in December, as they push for an Islamic caliphate and an end to Western education in the region.
The fallen heroes were buried at the Commonwealth Cemetery in Kaduna State.
It was witnessed by family members of the dead military personnel and senior Army officers.
The burial came a day after the Nigerian Army said troops of the newly formed Nigerian Army Special Forces Command (NASFC), Operation Lafiya Dole, have given the terrorists that attacked troops location in Baga a ‘bloody nose‘.

Troops had launched attack on the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists that now goes by the appellation of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and sustained it for nearly two weeks, Army Spokesmen, Sani Usman, said.
“The triumphant troops, particularly the highly revered 707 Special Forces Brigade which is the vanguard of the great exploit, dealt the decisive blow that neutralised several terrorists along that axis despite prior warning to them by some unpatriotic elements,” he added.
