Nightlife in Abuja , the Federal capital is one of the busiest one can get in West Africa. For many who have experienced it,the fond memories is one they all want to crave another time.

Abuja’s nightlife which encapsulates about 90 percent of its Entertainment potential is predominantly concentrated in the Wuse 2 and Maitama districts, which host the city’s most upscale and high-energy clubs.

Apart from the night clubs, restaurants, hotels and the scarlet chicks roaming most of the medium and highbrow street corners, the huge money that circulates within this multi billion naira sector is ,to say the least, mind buggling.

This week ,we take a a look at the brains behind these big night clubs making the Entertainment sector one of the best in the sub region.

Let us start with Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana) Often cited as one of the most prominent figures in Nigerian hospitality. He is the founder of the Cubana Group, which operates several venues in Abuja, including:

Ibiza Nite Club (his first major venture in Abuja, founded in 2006. Anyone who craves a  nightlife and has not visited Cubana at least once is regarded as a starter. It is a class place for Abuja big boys ,babes and moneybags and it is on record that apart from expatriates and embassy officials, travellers and tourists are always eager to pay a visit to the CUBANA night club at least once in a lifetime.

Uyi Ogbebor, CEO of the HWP Group and a major force in the city’s luxury entertainment scene. His places of interest includes:

Moscow Underground often referred to as the “billionaire nightclub”

Hustle and Bustle co-owned with Ayokunle Akinbode.

Ayokunle Akinbode: Akinbode is a frequent partner of Uyi Ogbebor in several high-end ventures, including the very popular Moscow Underground and Hustle and Bustle.

Hustle and Bustle is said to be the ice breaker for these two multimillionaires.

The club situated strategically on Aminu Kano Crescent, in Wuse 2 is a 24/7 restaurant and lounge called Bustle. The club’s construction rumoured to have cost  about 5 million dollars  with a world-class architectural design.

Uyi and Ayo in a statement said, with Hustle & Bustle, they were sure of breaking their own records in the hospitality business, assuring patrons that the club’s sole purpose is to ensure maximum satisfaction for all.

The statement said, “This should serve as a public notice that we have launched another club called Hustle. It’s external extension is called Bustle.True to type the club has lived up to expectations and its the place to be for many upscale nightlife lovers in Abuja.

Forbes-rated Uyi  is a household name in the hospitality industry, partnering with different investors and socialites to transform nightlife in Abuja.

Ogbebor is also the owner of another club in Lagos, Vaniti which is one of the wonders of the commercial city. Many who have had the privilege of visiting the club  have rated it as one of the best in the entire country.

This is obviously because of the architecture already put in place to give the  club the desired aesthetics. Ogbebor, whose company, HWP Group, houses many other companies including Whiskey Mistress and Magic City is regarded as a don in the industry .

Uyi who had grown all his companies from scratch, has set a standard in the entertainment industry that competitors can rarely match.

Segun Gabriels Adewumi: In Abuja’s Entertainment scene, Segun Gabriels Adewumi ,known to most as ApiLifestyle has rewritten what it means to create an experience. His world isn’t built on flashing lights or loud sound systems; it’s built on feeling. He moves through the city like a designer of energy, one who understands that nightlife, like fashion, is about detail, emotion, and control. Through Apitainment and Tokyo Nightlife, Api has become the quiet architect of Abuja’s after-hours renaissance, shaping how a generation connects, celebrates, and expresses itself.

“I’m a creator at heart, not just of events or nightlife, but of moments that make people feel alive,” he says. “I’ve always been fascinated by how energy connects people, how one good idea or one well-curated experience can shift the mood of an entire room. That’s what drives me,building spaces and systems that bring people together.”

That creative hunger has made Api one of the defining figures in Abuja’s lifestyle scene. His brand, Apitainment, began as a promotion company but has since evolved into a full-fledged production powerhouse. “Apitainment started as an idea to make entertainment feel intentional,to create something substantial in Abuja that can go toe to toe with other events and productions,” he explains. “We’re not just putting shows together; we’re building moments that stick.”

Every light cue, every setup, every sonic shift is part of a grander narrative. He’s not just producing events,he’s curating stories through emotion, sound, and spatial rhythm. It’s why Tokyo Nightlife, his flagship club, feels more like a fashion film than a venue; every night unfolds like a well-composed scene. “With Apitainment, we tell stories through experiences,” he says. “And with Tokyo Nightlife, we give those stories a home.”

Charles Okpaleke: Charles Okpaleke, 37, has come a long  way since his days as a struggling student.

With his brothers Elvis (a lawyer) and Jeffrey (an economist), he launched the Play Sports Bar and Grill in Abuja. It rapidly grew in popularity and initiated Play Entertainment Network, which became the overarching umbrella for the company’s evolution.

Today, the business has become a lifestyle brand catering to the hospitality and networking needs of its clients, including through a chain of nightclubs. The venture also has a charitable arm,  the Play Network Foundation, which aims to educate and empower young Africans with the tools to build their careers and bring their ideas to life regardless of their educational background.
