It is with a very painful heart and sadness that I write this tribute because normally, it’s Afolabi that should have written same when I pass on to glory. But I have no choice for the following reasons: (1.) The love we had for each started from my younger days when Afolabi was even much younger.
We were so fond of one another as a family, through his late mother, Alhaja Morin, late senior sister, Iya Supo and his junior sister, Denrele. (2.) When Afolabi fell sick, we knew it would lead to his death. And to my surprise when he knew he could not make it, he still spoke to his children about the Special Audio Release that I was planning to record for him, that in the event of his death, I should still record the album and release the CDs for distribution as souvenirs during his funeral ceremony and that I should be on the band stand despite the fact that I am 14 years older than him! (3.) Afolabi, you were a very special person to me and we always discussed heart-to-heart on so many issues.
You were indeed a very industrious and hardworking person. A man of integrity, sincerity and honesty. You were a socialite per excellence.
(4.) You loved your wife, Evang Olasunmbo Abiola and your adorable children very dearly and you guarded your good name jealously. I am therefore grateful to God that you left a good wife, responsible children and a united family who have been doing pretty well even while you were alive and capable of carrying on with your good name, business and family legacies. (5.) Denrele, your junior sister, relatives and friends will miss you greatly. I have fulfilled your wishes with the recording of the special audio CD, my band and my son, Tolu Obey will perform atyourfuneral.
