The 8-day Firdaus prayer for late Chief Taoreed Faronbi, aka Baba Alado, held on Saturday 4th October, 2026 at the prestigious Al-Moroof Events Place, Ijegun/Isolo Road, and it lived up to the billing of a man who ruled the Mainland Land Sale for over 50 years.

Baba Alado, 83, the Olori Ebi of Alagbeji Royal Family, Papa Ajao, Mushin, Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market, died on September 26, 2026 and was buried same day at his Isheri-Osun home beside his late mother, Alhaja Ajimoh Gbadamosi Faronbi, as per his last wish.

Exactly eight days after, his family shut down Ijegun/Isolo Road to give him a befitting final. The most striking moment of the day was the arrival of royalty. As at 6pm when the event ended, traffic was still locked down from Jakande Gate to Al-moroof Bus Stop, with commercial vehicles, also having a smile with brisk business.During his lifetime,Alado was a peoples man whose mien radiated within the Mainland socio circles. And perhaps that explains why during his 3-days post burial prayers, politicians, socialites and transport workers trooped to his Isheri house to mourn him. For decades, Faronbi was a prominent figure in Lagos grassroots politics, real estate and the transport sector.

The funeral was attended by family members, friends, residents and prominent political and community figures. Faronbi was also a prominent figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers, where he was widely regarded as a leader.

Reacting to his death, the National President of the NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed grief over the loss.

“Baba Alado was a man who made his mark, and whose name will remain remembered by many,” MC Oluomo said in an official release.

“His contributions, relationships, and presence within the transport and community space will not be forgotten.”

Beyond politics and transport, Faronbi was a prominent socialite and was celebrated by leading Fuji and juju musicians, including K1 De Ultimate, Osupa Saheed and Alabi Pasuma. He was also involved in land development and real estate, although his activities in the sector occasionally brought him into legal and communal disputes.
