The official commissioning ceremony of the estates for use was held last Thursday 25th May, 2023. It was indeed a busy day for Mr. Governor and his team who went to the 3 communities to present the projects to the people.
The people of the 3 communities were full of thanks to Mr. Governor for reaching out to them through the huge housing project which they believe would transform their communities for good in all ramification. This was obvious in the way the received the representatives of Mr. Governor.
The people of Ayandelu communities and their royal father, HRM Oba Ganiyu Asumo trooped out enmasse for the ceremony. As a way of showing appreciation, he presented a live Crocodile to Mr. Governor who was ably represented by one of his aides. In addition, they were entertained with the iconic Onire Masquerade display, which was full of excitement. Mr. Governor got a similar reception in Agbowa and Gbagada as stakeholders of each community and neighbouring towns were seated to witness the ceremony.
The highpoints of the ceremony were the arrival of the representatives of Mr. Governor, welcome address by the Commission for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, project brief by the directors of the engineering services, Mr. Governor’s speech, cutting of ribbon by the governor which marked the official commissioning after which inspection of the housing estates and the facilities in them were done. These were done across the 3 venues.
The housing schemes commissioned when put together amounts to 876 housing units. The first was the Lagos Homs Odo-Onosa/Ayandelu; a massive scheme comprising 660 home units located along Agbowa-Sagamu Road in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. Most of the houses built were done to make decent homes available and accessible to Lagosians irrespective of their social class and income level. Meanwhile Mr. Governor has vowed to build more housing estates across the state to reduce the gap of housing deficit in the state.
