Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque Hall was a beehive of activity on Sunday, 12th February, 2023 when the Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Alhaji Miftaudeen Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo and the Iman-In-Coucit held the installation and turbanning ceremony of the new Muslim Chiefs of Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque.
They were made up of 6 men and 4 women.
The new chiefs are: Alhaji Otunba Gboyega Tunde Dawood Adesoye (Aare Musulumi), Alhaji Moriwiyu Olukayode Bakare (Otun Afolasadinni), Alhaji Shakir Olajimi Adebisi Lawal (Giwa Adinni), Alhaji Mushafau Abiodun Abass Odunsi (Mopelola Adinni), Asiwaju Abdur-Rauf Taiwo Adeniji (Saraki Adinni) and Otunba Surajudeen Owolabi Alebiosu (Osupa Adinni).
As for the women, the following distinguished Ijebu women were honoured. They are: Alhaja (Yeye) Serifat Olasukanmi Alebiosu (Osupa Adinni Obinrin), Alhaja Mulikat Aderonke Kolade Carew (Agbesinga Adinni Obinrin), Alhaja Hamdallat Oluwatoyin Abdullah (Alaranse Adinni Obinrin) and Alhaja Otunba Afolasade Risikat Adesoye (Afolasadinni Obinrin).
The Chairman of the event was Alhaji Sambaliu Laide Fowosere (Chairman, Nucleus Group). The Chairperson was As-Seyyidah Alhaja Rahmahtullah Kehinde Faruq Onikijipa. The Special Guest of Honour was Otunba Ademola Odutola, the GMD/CEO, Queens Drive Estate Ltd. The father of the day was Alhaji (Engr.) Sikirullahi Bosun Oke (Seriki Musulumi of Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque. The host was Dr. Taofiq Mabayoje Salisu, the Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque Management Committee.
The Guest of Honour was Alhaji Sikirullahi Tunde Emilola Gazal, the Executive Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government.

Lets tell you more about some of these turbanned. They include Asiwaju Abdur-Rauf Taiwo Adeniji.
Asiwaju Taiwo was born in Ijebu-Ode to the Adeniji family of Imupa. His father was late Alhaji Yinusa O. Adeniji, while his mother was late Alhaja Animota Bukunola Adeniji, of the Gbidinninuola family of Isado, Ijebu-Ode. Asiwaju Taiwo Adeniji is currently a Senior Director at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), a multilateral specialist infrastructure financing institution headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. Taiwo has had over 34 years of post-graduate and extensive professional and managerial experience in several areas of banking and finance. Prior to AFC, Taiwo worked for 13 years, from 1994 to 2007, with the African Development Bank (AfDB), living both in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunis, Tunisia, and focussing largely on infrastructure and industrial projects, as well as financial sector development.
Taiwo’s academic background is in Economics and Finance. He is an Honorary Senior Member (HCIB) of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
Taiwo Adeniji has a Master’s of Science degree (M.SC. with Distinction) in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Science degree (with First Class) in Agricultural Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University. He has also undertaken professional training in corporate risk management, credit analysis, infrastructure financing, banking supervision, and leadership programmes,
He is a man of the world. As an International Banker, Asiwaju Taiwo Adeniji has travelled widely, both in Africa as well as outside the continent. He has been to most of the countries in Africa, as well as several countries in Europe, North America and Asia. In addition to English language, Asiwaju Taiwo Adeniji speaks French.

Otunba Owolabi Alebiosu was born into the family of Alhaji & Alhaja Abdulrazak Kehinde Alebiosu of the Oba Ijasi ruling house in the middle 60’s. Having completed his both primary and secondary school education in Ijebu Ode. He proceeded in his education to Ogun State Polytechnic Abeokuta Ogun State where he graduated with Diploma in Public Administration {DPA}in the year 1992 and later further his education at Nigerian College of Administration, Lagos for his Advanced Diploma in Public Administration {ADPA}in the year 1994. Asiwaju Owolabi Alebiosu was exempted from the National Youth Service Corps {NYSC}based on his age at the time of graduation from the college in the year 1995. Asiwaju Owolabi Alebiosu proceeded to the post graduate school of the Ogun State University, Ago Iwoye for his Master’s Degree in Public Administration {MPA}and graduated in the year 2020. On completion of his master’s degree Otunba Owolabi Alebiosu went to the United States of America (USA) for his Doctoral Degree Programme in Public Administration and specialized in Public Policy Analysis and General Administration. Otunba Owolabi Alebiosu is currently a Fellow and Adjunct Professor of Public Policy and Administration in the United States of America USA.

Alhaja Hamdalat Oluwatoyin Sanni Abdallah was also honoured. She was born on 4th July 1967 in Zaria, Kaduna State. She is from Origin: Isonyin, Ijebu North East Local Government Area to late Alhaji Rabiu Folorunso Sanni, and the late Alhaja Wosilat Oladunni Sanni.
Her education: Tsugugi LEA Primary School Zaria, Government Girls’ Secondary School, Soba, Zaria, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she got a Diploma in Insurance and a B.Sc Business Administration.
She has worked with John Holt Agric-Service Zaria. International Standard Insurance, Kaduna, Managing Director/CEO, Onirakunmi Sanitary & Gas Ltd, Lagos and Managing Director, CEO Dansaky Unique Global International.
In her service to Islam, she has been a member Ansar-ud-Deen Youth Zaria, member NACOMYO Ijebu-Division. In 1996, Hamdalat Oluwatoyin went on her first Holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and in 2005, she was appointed Chairlady ACOMYO Ijebu-Division 21st Annual Ramadan Lecture.
Alhaja Hamdalat Oluwatoyin Abdullah has cordial relationship with members of her immediate family members and the community at large. She is a foundation member and the Iyalode of Egbe Jagunmolu

Alhaji Mushafau Abiodun Ayoola Abass Odunsi. He was born to the reputable family of Abasi Odunsi at Idepo, Ijebu-Ode, in January Ist 1955. She attended Moslem Primary School, Etitale between 1961-1967. She proceeded to Yaba Technical College in 1968 for further studies and I finished from the College in 1970. Having graduated from the College, she was given a rare opportunity to work with Cappa & De-Alberto and later enlisted in the Nigeria Custom Service in January 28, 1976 in Sokoto State. To God be the glory, she worked diligently at various departments at all levels and was transfered to Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Seme Boarder and Port Harcourt, to mention but a few.
My outstanding performance afforded me the opportunity to secure a Custom Licence Agent, which was expressly facilitated by the former Comptroller General of Custom, Alhaji Dikko through my former Comptroller in Onne Area Command, Alhaji Abdul Raseed Ibrahim after my retirement of 35 years of meritorious service in Nigeria Customs in January, 2011. Alhamdulillah, today, I am the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Amaokunka Nigeria Limited. Permit me to mention a few of the positions held:

There is also Alhaji Moriwiyu Olukayode Bakare who was born on the 21st February 1970 in Lagos to the family of the late Alhaji and Alhaja Musediku Abiodun Bakare of Atiba town in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. He attended Sanni Luba Nursery/Primary School, Ijebu-Ode before proceeding to Luba Comprehensive High School, Ijebu-Ode for his college education. Alhaji M.O. Bakare is an Economics graduate from Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye (Now Olabisi Onabanjo University) where he was a Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc Scholar and obtained M.SC degree in Economics from University of Ibadan, lbadan 1995.
He also holds ACI Dealing Certificate (Distinction) of the Financial Markets Association, Paris France and he is an Honorary Senior Member ofthe Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HClB). Moriwiyu Olukayode Bakare is a seasoned banker, economist, and entrepreneur. He has over 30 years of cognate experience in different professions. They include the academia, real estate developments/investments, business development and the Nigerian Banking industry. He is also a subject-matter expert in financial/market risk management, interest rates, fixed income and currencies trading, global trade as well as treasury and balance sheet management. He has undertaken several courses on Fixed Income and Portfolio Management, Bourse Game, Foreign Exchange and Derivatives, Advanced Capital Market programme including structured products from reputable institutions such as New York Institute of Finance, USA, Euromoney, CITI Bank and ICAP, South Africa as well as Digital transformation at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland. He recently attended an Executive Education program at Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He facilitates regularly for Financial Institutions Training Center (FITC) on financial markets/product, Treasury management and Treasury risk management.
Before now, Olukayode was the Group Executive, Market Risk Management at Intercontinental Bank Pic (Now Access Bank Plc) where he was for almost 3 years responsible for identifying and managing Interest Rate Risk, Exchange Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk as well as Equity price risk across the group. His professional career has taken him through such institutions as Ogun State University (Now Olabisi Onabanjo University) Ago-Iwoye, where he was a Lecturer in the Department of Banking & Finance (1992-1997). He started his Banking career at Ecobank Nigeria Pic (1997-2000) where he resigned as Head, Foreign Currency (FCY) Trading having worked in Treasury Group, Strategy and Consumer Banking Group; Diamond Bank Nigeria Pic (2000-2002) and Diamond Bank du Republic of Benin (where he was a member of Asset & Liability Management Committee and at various times deputized for the Treasurer.
He was also the pioneer Country Treasurer, Diamond Bank du Republic of Benin); Societe Generale Nigeria Limited (Now Heritage Bank Nigeria); HSLM Trust & Associates Limited (Investment Holdings & Advisory Services Company) where he served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and United Bank for Africa (U BA) where he was the Bank’s Liquidity Manager. Now, Olukayode is a General Manager/Divisional Head, Treasury and Global Trade Group at Wema Bank Plc. In this role, he is responsible for the Bank’s Balance Sheet Management, Currency Trading and Risk Hedges, Fixed Income securities, Structured Trade and Finance, as well as it’s relationships with domestic and international correspondent banks, development finance institutions and multilateral agencies.
During his banking career, he serve? on various committees and acquired strong financial/currency analysis and risk management skills from his exposure to multicurrency and multicultural institutions through international trade and finance, asset and liability management, currency trading and money market operations.
Alhaji M.O. Bakare is happily married and blessed with children. He is a member of the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938 and the Saba Egbe of the Egbe Obaneye Okunrin Akile Ijebu. His interests include Islamic development, financial markets education, community empowerment/development and sports.
Also honoured was Alhaji Hakir Olajimi Adebisi-Lawal. Many call him Jimi Lawal. He is a Politician. He is a British trained, qualified professional banker and a lawyer with over two decades of international merchant banking experience, across three continents – Africa, Europe and North America. Apart from having held senior management positions in multi-national banks, he is also a career entrepreneur, an educator and a Senior Public Servant that has founded several companies including an investment banking firm, a major real estate development company and an approved educational institution.
He served as a member, Campaign Finance Committee, CPC Presidential Campaign Council. He functioned as a member, CPC Renewal Committee. He aided the ACN-CPC Merger Committee as a member representing CPC. He served as member, APC National Election Planning Committee.
He has an excellent information analysis, proven government relations and networking skills, strong analytical and communication skills, excellent sales negotiation and business execution skills. Speaks Yoruba and English.
He has had a rich public service experience. From June 2019 till date reappointed as Senior Adviser & Counselor to Governor Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna State Government and Chairman, Kaduna State Economic Development Council.
