•Details Of The Classy Party @ CIVIC Centre, LAGOS
On Saturday, 25th December 2021, all roads led to the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos where popular Coral Beads Merchant, Lady Emmanuella Abiodun Aisien marked her 70th birthday. The party was grand in all aspects and attracted the creme-de-la-creme of the society. In this report, City People’s Contributing Editor, IYABO OYAWALE (08033564055) brings you gists from the party.
ABOUT THE CELEBRANT
Lady Emmanuella Abiodun Aisien is popular within the Lagos social establishment for the right reasons. She is close to a lot of notable people and highly industrious.
Extra kind, Mrs. Aisien used to be a wine merchant with her brand name, Ellasien Wine and Spirits.
She closed down the business after several years to engage in the coral beads business which she currently dominates with her brand, Just Coral. Grateful to see 70 years on mother earth, the celebrant, a staunch Catholic, kicked off her celebration with a morning mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Gbaja, Off Randle in Surulere.
This was followed by a reception at the Civic Centre which was well-attended, in spite of Covid-19 protocols. Loved ones and friends came out to honour Lady Aisien, despite the fact that it was Christmas.
A GRAND PARTY INDEED
The 70th birthday of Lady Emmanuella Abiodun Aisien was grand in all aspects. The venue spoke class and was transformed by pictures of the celebrant. Ushers were dressed in gold while the vendors engaged to provide services lived up to the billing. DJ Ocean dished out current songs and oldies which guests danced to. Veritas Events Catering and Little Chef provided food while E1 Padrino provided cocktails.
K-Square Securities provided security while Bar Venture was in charge of drinks. Turn Up Commissioner was the MC and handled the proceedings well. The opening prayer was by Pastor Emeka Okpala while Jasmine’s Nest planned the event. The party was devoid of gatecrashers as you had to show your invitation card before entry. Only 200 guests were expected because of Covid-19. There was so much to eat and drink and ushers were on stand by to satisfy the demands of guests. The event was full of entertainment as there were puzzle games to guage how well guests knew the celebrant.
There was no aso-ebi but all the guests turned up glamorous, just as the invitation card indicated.
Idia Aisien, the celebrant’s last daughter, gave the vote of thanks and said some good things about her. She said her mother is an extremely kind person and always a shoulder to lean on for people around her.
CELEBRANT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE
Lady Aisien, a knight of St. Paul, didn’t look 70 years at all. She looked younger than her age. She was up and doing, greeting guests and taking pictures. Her energy level was really amazing. She looked resplendent in a shiny blue gown with beads all over. The coral beads she wore really stood her out at the party. She really proved she is the undisputed leader in the coral beads market.
Lady Aisien was born on December 25th, 1951 at Lafiaji part of Lagos, off Okesuna, Lagos. She is partly (Cameroonian father, and Nigerian mother). She is nee Nana. She is a Catholic from birth.
SHADE BALOGUN STOOD BY THE CELEBRANT
It is no longer news that the duo of Lady Aisien and popular aso-oke merchant, Barrister Balogun are close. The latter was one of those who arrived the Civic Centre early and stood by the celebrant like the rock of Gibraltar. Barrister Balogun dazzled in a shiny purple ensemble.
OBA ELEGUSHI’S GRAND ENTRY
The 21st Elegushi of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, his wife and entourage breezed into the party mid-way into proceedings. It was such a delight to watch the royal father saunter into the event and attract the attention of all and sundry. The Oba was in an off-white ensemble while his wife, Queen Sekinat Elegushi (QSE) wore a shiny black lace outfit.
WITH LOVE FROM CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN
Lady Aisien, the matriarch of the Aisien family, is well-loved by her children and grandchildren as they all turned up for the event and stood by her. The party was actually at the behest of the children who wanted to celebrate their mum. The celebrant has nine children: 2 boys and 7 girls, all of whom are doing well in their chosen fields.
RUTH OSIME MAKES A STYLE STATEMENT
Style icon and editor of THISDAY Style Magazine, Ruth Osime breezed into the party mid-way into proceedings with Funmi Omitowoju and her two sisters, Ekome Osime and Omome Osime. Ruth was dressed in an orange agbada, had a tinted low cut, and shoes to match.
GUESTS WERE A MIXTURE OF THE YOUNG AND OLD
Guests at the party were a mixture of older folks and the young. The older folks were friends and family of Lady Aisien while the younger folks were friends and family of her children. Both generations engaged themselves well at the party and the DJ made them both feel at home by dishing out songs that the old and the young could relate to.
