UK-based socialite and businesswoman of high repute, Mrs Yetunde Akilo (nee Ayanbadejo) has described her late mother, Madam Pauline Adedoyin Ayanbadejo as a mentor and confidant whose vacuum will take a while to be filled.
She made the statement during her visit to her mother’s graveside on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the St Sebastian Catholic Church, Ijebu Ode Ogun State.
In her lifetime, Mama Adedoyin, was a woman of means, she commands deep respect from young and old, especially on the social and business radar. She was also well known for her philanthropic gesture for the needy and less privileged before she passed on two years ago.
Mrs Yetunde Akilo visited her hometown to throw a low-key prayer session remembrance get-together party for her late mother, who taught her many things about philanthropy, Prayer, Business, and love for others.
She invited top Christian clerics to her mother’s cenotaph to hold a prayer session for her.
Speaking at the prayer session, mama’s first daughter, Mrs Yetunde Akilo said;
“My mum was my confidant, my friend. Each time I’m in town, I have to pay her respect. I don’t know when next I’m going to be around. My mum was somebody I held in high esteem. I shared everything with her. I missed her so dearly. And the only way I can remember her is by saying a prayer by her graveside.
Taking time out to remember and celebrate her late mom, Mrs Lara Afolaranmi, who is also mama’s daughter expressed the depth of love her siblings and herself have for her while noting they miss her.
She expressed her grief even after two years of mama’s exit. She stated that she’s yet to come to terms with the reality that mama has finally gone.
“I’m still trying to get myself together and embrace the reality that my mother is really gone, even after two years. She is someone that I share everything with. She was my companion 24/7. We actually lived together. It’s something that I’m still trying to process. But I thank God for the grace. We are certain that God will continue to grant her eternal rest”, she said.
Father Peter Ayanbadejo, one of the residential clerics of St Sebastian Catholic Church, Ijebu Ode described mama as a strong pillar of support to the church. He said mama used to volunteer for most projects embarked upon during her lifetime and played a motherly role to all the younger women in the church. He admitted that mama’s vacuum has not been sufficiently filled after her demise since 2020.
Mama Pauline Adedoyin Ayanbadejo is survived by 7 children and 13 grandchildren.
