It was a show of class, wealth and status as all routes that led to Victoria Island stood still for many hours on Saturday, 27th July when 2 prominent families threw a showstopping wedding for their children in Lagos. Many celebrity men and women trooped out and stormed the party to honour the Aboderins and the Iwuajokus. The bride of the day is the daughter of Dolapo Aboderin, one of the nephews of the late founder of Punch newspapers. The bride’s mother is a diamond merchant, Mrs Ololade Aboderin. The dashing groom is the son of foremost billionaire businessman, Sam Iwuajoku. His mum is also a diamond merchant, Yeye Omobolanle Folakemi Oduntan. You can only imagine what caliber of guests will attend such a wedding when the couple’s parents are prominent people. The couple’s mothers, Mrs. Lolade Aboderin and Yeye Bolanle Oduntan are both grounded in the social scene and no wonder they both pulled a large crowd of celebrity women to the party.
If you are a regular Owanbe person, you will have noticed the new crave of a certain lace which is worn by a certain set of celebrities at parties. It is known as HOH Lace and it is quite expensive. It is not a lace you see everywhere, it is mostly worn by celebrity women who know its worth and value. It is very durable and can last a long time. It is an Austrian lace, premium and expensive. It is usually between the ranges of 350k and above if you want to get the good ones. One particular trend at parties now is that some set of the clique of friends always storm parties in this lace, in fact apart from Aso Ebi which are picked for parties, the celebrant always has some set of friends who she will wear the lace with, as a change of clothes. It has now become a sort of competition between women to outdo themselves at parties. The lace comes in different colors and embroideries depending on the type.
This lace made a big statement at the Aboderin and Iwuajokus wedding as most women of class who attended the wedding showed up in their various HOH laces. It was a heavily attended personality wedding where many of the couple’s mothers friends and couples father’s family members numbered up to 500 stormed and glowed at the party in the sequined Aqua colour HOH lace. Though there was no Aso Ebi for the wedding except for the uniform gele Aso oke for the party which was supplied by celebrity Aso Oke designer, Bimmms24 but we saw some set of women especially close friends of the couple’s mothers who wore the same laces.
