•What The PDP Senatorial Candidate Told EKO Club
A few days ago, Prince Adewale Gomez, popularly known as the Adaba of Lagos, was at the Eko Club, Off Bode Thomas, Surulere to reveal his plans as the PDP senatorial candidate for Lagos Central.
Speaking at the interactive session organised by Eko Club, and led by the President, Hon. Barr. Tajudeen Jaiyeola Agoro, Gomez said he plans to re-build Lagos State. “I am a member of Eko Club, and I was the founding member of Eko Club in Houston, America. I believe I am more qualified for this post because, I am old in politics, I have been in politics for a very long time and I know how to fix the problems of this country”.
“I am also an indigene of Lagos State, I will cover the whole part of Ibile if I am elected. Ibile is Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. I am never proud to say I am a Lagosian, each time I come to Lagos, I feel like weeping, we can never compare Abuja to Lagos, we can also do the same here in Lagos”.
“Lagos State schools are nothing to write home about. Whenever I visit my son’s school abroad, I feel like sleeping in their hostel, every where is clean and neat.
I will open a student account for all the students when I am elected. Our students, especially the females have turned to prostitutes, while trying to meet up with school fees payment. As soon as I assume office, there will be student accounts, where students will take loan and be able to pay for their fees”.
“I will also make sure that there is agriculture in every state. Every state must have their own agriculture.
The citizens of Lagos State will know their rights. Abroad, you cannot arrest someone any how, you cannot stop some one on the street without a genuine reason, whenever the police stop or arrest you, there must be a reason for that, all these are the rights I will make known to the citizens.
I will also make sure that we have E – governance, E – governance is the application of information technology for delivering government services, exchange of information, communication, transactions, etc.
This E – governance reminds me of one error I made abroad while filling a form, there was an error I made, and the information bounced back, I will do the same here, I am determined to work and I will work.
This E – governance will sweep off corruption in this country, if you commit an offence here in Lagos, and you run to Abeokuta, the E – governance will bring you out. With this style of government, corruption will reduce.
I will also make sure that senior citizens earn some money. Who are senior citizens? You are a senior citizen if you are over 70. You will agree with me, in Nigeria, when you retire or get old, there’s no source of income or living well, which is why our aged men and women die easily, some of them will not get to spend their gratuity, some of them will be abandoned once they are old, my government will not tolerate this.
Housing will be free in Lagos if I am elected, every local government will have a housing estate for it’s citizens.
I will also make sure that, “our Toll gate is working very well. People will no longer walk into Lagos without proper check up”.
