•As IBADAN Based Veteran Actors Storm Event
The city of Ibadan stood still last week Tuesday 13th November when the management of City People Magazine stormed Ibadan to celebrate about 50 Actors, Actresses, Producers, Directors, Crew members. The veteran actors were not left out as Yinka Ayefele’s Music House accommodated guests.
The venue was made all the more colourful as the Chairman of the occasion, Oloye Lekan Alabi stormed the event with his richly embroidered indigenous red ofi Agbada with a working stick to match. The special guest of honour was Princess Omobolanle Ashabi Sarumi-Aliyu. The National Interest Party governorship candidate for Oyo State. She looked sweet in her outfit Arewa Princess Sade Adeyemi, the daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo was there. Ace broadcaster, Yemi Sonde attended so also Alariwo of Africa. Both Oloye Alabi and Princess Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu commended City People for the initiative and also praised both the veterans and the stars who were being celebrated.
Oloye Alabi urged all the actors and actresses to keep the flag flying urging the government to provide the enabling environment for the actors to thrive. He told the Theatre practitioners that talent alone is not enough. He said they must aspire to go to school and for those who are educated they should update their skills. The governorship candidate of NIP told all the ators and actresses gathered that if voted in 2019 she will celebrate those in the sector more.” Once I’m the Governor of Oyo State I will promote what City People is doing for the actors and actresses so they can be empowered more. They deserve more from the government”, she says.
