Evidently, the bond between father and child is one that lasts a lifetime. It is one that cannot be changed by time or distance. It is the purest kind of love; unconditional and true. It understands every situation and forgives every mistake.
This bond, so pure, holds between Omooba Segun Adewale, and his late father, Prince Alfred Oladipupo Olawale Adewale, 26 years after. Even in death, Prince Alfred retains the very big and impressive part of his accomplished son’s heart.
Segun Adewale, the Group Managing Director IMC Group, an Integrated Marketing Communications Group, a marketing communications group that has 24-7 Communications Ltd., Proview Advertising Ltd., 24-7/Zinto Marketing Ltd., E-Genius Digital Agency. With other subsidiaries such as Sunstar Solar Systems Ltd., and Mediamatryx. He so much loved his late father with incredible passion. And even though death has snatched papa from him and his siblings, he still adores him and cherishes his memories.
No wonder he and his siblings are hosting friends, business associates and other family members to a thanksgiving service in remembrance of their late dad.
According to Omooba Segun Adewale in a statement seen by veracitydesk.com.ng, on behalf of the entire family, he said:
“This year myself and the entire family would be commemorating the memory of our late father on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Ilaro, Ogun State, 26 years after his glorious transition to heaven.
“We shall be having prayers in papa’s remembrance in the morning. We have a lot to thank God for, the seven of us; my good self, Omooba Segun Adewale (OSA), Princess Bukonla Olupojo (an educationist and teacher), Mrs Oluyemisi Kayode-Adedeji, works at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
“Others are, Mrs Abiola Akomolafe – Teacher in Ekiti State, Mr Gbenga Adewale, Telecoms Engineer who resides in Toronto, Canada, Mr Taiwo Adewale (based in Dublin, Ireland) and Pastor (Mrs) Kehinde Omotuyi – a fashion icon and a resident of Lagos.
“I must also commend our mother, Iyalode Susanna Adewale for her prayers, sacrifices, forthrightness, blessings and for her strength in overcoming the vicissitude of life, I pray she will continue to reap the fruits of her labour in good health. At 83, she is still basking in the glory and abundant grace of God. She is the Iyalode of Ijale Land in Abeokuta North Local Government in Ogun state. I thank God for her life too.” The statement concluded.
Omooba’s message is inadvertently challenging other fathers to be like his own (when he was alive) and also for mothers to share in the good virtues of his mother, an octogenarian.
Although pa Alfred Adewale has passed away in 1996, his children’s yearly remembrance makes it seem as if he were still around, still pulling his strings, guiding and correcting them. To anyone who knows the basics about Segun Adewale, it was his father that shaped his business sense, modest and decent lifestyle of integrity and contentment.
For Segun Adewale, remembering his father always is about celebrating his influence and endeavours in his life, including those of his siblings and children. The legacy of papa lives on in every one of them.
