Derin schooled at Suffolk University, Boston, Massachusetts USA where she graduated with BSc in Finance degree in 1988, She worked at Beacon Bank in Boston, USA for 2 years. Between 1991, Derin went back to United Kingdom to obtain an MBA from the Huron University, South Kensington, London, United Kingdom.Derin is also an alumni of Lagos Business School.
Derin is an avid, consummate manager and entrepreneur par excellence. Founded The Peach Company Limited in 1999, a wholly indigenous furniture and interior decoration production and marketing company. TPC was one of the foremost leading furniture company till 2013 as it reached $5.5m annual turnover. In 2014 she decided to take a break, and slow down to attend to family for a couple of years.
She has since 2016 put some steam in the business as Peach Manufacturing Company was created to concentrate on local production of furniture. Derin is a director in the various companies namely, Foxhill Limited, Peach Energy Ltd, Peach Oil and Gas Ltd, Bathrooms and Beyond Limited and host of other companies. Derin has attended various training and capacity development program in different parts of the world.
