The big news is that this ageless beauty and respected society matriarch will be 70 years old this December and she plans to celebrate it in grand style. Since then she has moved on to become one of the most respected society women from this part of the country and hugely respected too. Joko Oni has also carved a niche for herself as a fashion connoisseur, socialite and jewellery magnate who ranks high among her peers. To her, age is just a number but clocking age 70 has not changed her youthful thinking and reasoning as she is still 30 at heart. Her dress sense, aura, poise, elegance and beauty are still top notch as she is still a delight to many who admire her strong will and her straightforward approach to life.
The preparation for her big event has almost reached a frenetic pace. Her friends, both within and outside the country, are all geared up to support her and make her day a memorable one. Joko Oni is one woman who has been there over the years supporting her friends and standing by them whenever they had big occassions to celebrate. She has friends scattered all over the world who are coming into the country specifically to party with the elegant Joko Oni and celebrate her. “Many of my friends are going to fly into the country from all over the world for my birthday party. They are coming in from America, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Austria, Canada, Benin Republic, they will all be coming down to Nigeria to celebrate with me,” she told City People exclusively.

This is why there has been a big rush for the Aso-Ebi. Many of the London and U.S. big babes have already begun transforming theirs into very attractive styles that they will wear to dazzle at the party come the 29th of December.
One of the high points of the party will be the presence of a former first lady of one of the African countries. She will play the role of the mother of the day at the event. The exquisite Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, venue of the party, will surely be filled to the brim for the big event. The ageless Joko Oni has been a part of the celebration of many top society ladies. She has been a rallying point amongst her peers. She flows very well with ladies much younger than her and has been a pillar of support to many of them. We hear that it is going to be a strictly ‘no acess card, no entry’ event. “Even if you’re wearing the Aso-Ebi, without your access card, you will be denied entry into the venue of the party,” squealed a source close to Joko Oni the celebrant. This became necessary because of the calibre of people that will be attending the event. The celebrant has invited sufficient ampount of people that she wishes to invite and would not tolerate any extra unbudgeted gate crashers coming in to disturb her guests.
Apart from the strict no access card, no entry policy, the celebrant, Aunty Joko Oni as she’s fondly called by many younger friends and acquaintances, has also arranged special security outfits including bouncers from Cotonou to come in and take charge of the security of the event. They will be working in partnership with one of the most popular securtity outfits in Nigeria in Nigeria, K-Square.
The interior decoration of the hall will be handled by late Ibidun Ighodalo’s decoration company, Elizabeth R. With Elizabeth R handling the decoration of the hall, guests should expect a total transformation of the Balmoral. They should expect to see aesthetic beauty at its very best.
For a 70th birthday bash of a style icon like Joko Oni, you must expect that only a legendary music artiste will be suitable to entertain guests at such event. That musician has to be big and with a status high enough to excite the caliber of guests expected at the party, and the musician billed for the event is no other than the King of World beats himself, the world renowned and Iconic King Sunny Ade. And for those who are familiar with live performances of KSA, they know its going to be an exciting time on the dance floor.
The colour code for the party is Gold. While all the women will be in their Aso-Ebi, the men will be in their white or blue Agbada on Gold cap. No doubt it is going to be a massive event and all of Joko Oni’s friends, family and well wishes can’t wait for the 29th of December to come.
