There are many traditional rulers in Ijebu who we hardly talk about. Some have just been installed, others have been on the throne for decades.
There are some Obas like the Awujale of Ijebland, Obas Sikiru Adetona who is the paramount ruler of Ijebu land who has been on the throne since 1960. And there are others like the Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi who came on the throne a few years back after Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo passed on to greater glory. There are many more, who are Kings across Ijebuland. They are very educated Obas. They are very stylish and classy in their own ways.
Take the Akarigbo, Oba Babatunde Victor Ajayi, LLM, BL, FCA. He is the paramount ruler of Remoland. He is a very brilliant Oba and a man of great sartorial elegance. There are others like the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo. There is the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye. There is the Odemo of Isara, HRH Oba Albert Adebose Mayungbe (Erinsiba III). There is also the Alaye Ode Remo.
In the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, there are these Kings: Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland Oba (Dr.) S.K. Adetona installed 1960, Aladekan of Oke-Ako-Oba Osunsami installed 1992, Lamodi of Isiwo-Oba (Engr.) Salisu installed 1998.
In Ijebu East Local Government Area there are these kings: Ajalorun of Ife-Oba A.A. Oguntayo (FCA) installed 1996, Oloko of Imushin-Oba S.A. Onafowokan installed 1991, Olowu of Owu-Oba (Engr.) M.O. Adesina installed 2007, Akija of Ikija-Oba A.K. Alakija installed 1997, Moyegeso of Itele-Oba (Engr.) M.A Kasali installed 2003, Magunsen of Itamarun-Oba J.A Fakoya installed 2009, Ogirimadagbo of Ilodo-Oba (Engr.) Ajede installed 1997, Oyebola of Igbaga-Oba M.O, Adenaike installed 1996, Elesugbon of Esugbon-Oba (Engr.) Hassan installed 2011, Onitasin of Itasin-Oba F.R.A Adegbesan installed 1994.
