•Olori TOBI PHILLIPS Reveals A Lot
The dust raised by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, (Ojaja II) after he got married to multiple wives, taking them one after the other in a matter of weeks, is yet to settle down. Everyone is still wondering if there was some really big pressure on the Ooni to marry the six women he married or if he did it merely because he desired to have these fabulous women around him. While it may remain unseen what the real reason for the multiple weddings was, we can tell you for free that the paramount ruler of Yoruba land has been enjoying polygamy to the fullest, with each of the wives playing their roles without encroaching on each other’s territory. These women, who have now taken on the revered position of Olori in the palace, are not just any kind of women, but truly distinguished and dignified women. One of them is Olori Tobi, the third and youngest wife of the Ooni of Ife.
What has perhaps made Tobi Phillip, a native of Okitipupa in Ondo State, stand out amongst the wives of the Ooni is the fact that she is the youngest Olori in the palace and she is so exquisitely gorgeous. You can’t but stare at Tobi Phillips for a long spell when you meet her for the first time and marvel at her stunning beauty. Her flawless skin, absolutely sexy, chiseled figure and pretty face make her a stunner any day. This is why many give the Ojaja II thumbs up for finding such an incredibly lovely woman. It will interest many to know that this paragon of beauty actually worked for the Ooni for over six years before finally becoming his wife. Olori Tobi is a fashion entrepreneur and a model. She is the owner of QTP Luxury Fashion, a fashion empire. The new queen is also a skilful 3D artist.
Two weeks ago, Olori Tobi was a guest on a popular TVC breakfast programme YOUR VIEW, where she opened up on how she got married to the Ooni. It was an excited Olori Tobi who regaled viewers with details of all that went down during the early years of her relationship wiith Ooni. She said that contrary to the insinuations making the rounds that she was merely looking for fame or money, she and Ooni actually dated and broke up once before reuniting again.
The pretty intelligent Tobi, who won the 2012 World Miss University Africa (WMUA), was clearly choosing her words carefully and trying not to say things that could embarrass the Ooni or the palace as a whole. She recalled how she and Ooni met. It was quite an unusual one.
“Somebody just called me one day and said would you like to get married to the Ooni of Ife? I was like, what’s that? And then he introduced us.” And, just like that, that was how they started off a relationship that would survive a few turpsy-turvies and go on to culminate in marriage.
While trying to explain how they got back together, Olori said the only reason she got back with the Ooni was because she loved him. She insists it would never have happened if she didn’t love him.
She said, “Of course. I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t love him. I always promised myself that I would marry who I love. So it’s not like I didn’t have suitors, but there are some values I would want in who I want to be with. And he has that. That’s why I’m here.”
“I didn’t take it seriously because I was like, okay, so what is going on? But then we met and started dating, but there was so much interference, and then we didn’t get married. That was quite devastating for me,” she added.
And what are the qualities she looks out for in a man? How many of them did she find in Ooni? She explains why it had to be Ooni and no one else.
“I wouldn’t be with somebody who isn’t kind because of my kind of person. I’m susceptible. So if you don’t meet specific criteria, I will not be with you.
“Also, I’m a tall person, and I like to wear heels, so I don’t see myself being with someone who isn’t tall,” she added.
And how did she see polygamy before she got involved it? Did she ever prepare to settle for a polygamous home at any point in her life? How has she been settling into it
She admitted polygamy was the last thing on her mind. She was never prepared for it.
“If you find that person that fits specific criteria that are not negotiable for you, then you go with it. Ordinarily, I never imagined that I would find myself in a polygamous setting, but I always had some non-negotiable.
“My mum was a bit worried at first. But also, she was like, we’ve been through quite a rollercoaster in our relationship. But my parents never objected,” she said.
But, being a very young lady, how does she plan to cope with being alone most times as the Ooni is expected to share his time between her and five other women. But she was honest enough with herself to understands that there are other Oloris, and the Ooni will not have time for her as much as she would’ve liked for him to. But those are some of the sacrifices she has to make for her to have a truly fulfilling marriage.
