It was a gathering of celebrity women of style and panache on Saturday 21st of November, 2020, as Ibadan stylish woman, Chief Taofikat Afolabi becomes Otun Iyalode of Egbaland.
Tongues have been wagging since it took place, owing to the high number of celebrity women who made huge fashion statements at the palace of Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland.
The event was also a double celebration as Oba Adedotun Gbadebo also celebrated his 15 corronation anniversary.
A few minutes past 1pm, Chief Taofikat Afolabi changed the atmosphere at the event when she walked in as an Egba Chief that she is, in a special yellow HOH from Effizioni Fabrics. Effiizoni is one of the biggest HOH sellers in Lagos.
She matched the lace with a huge 18 carat gold, 100 grams, worth over N3 million naira. Her multicolour italian Rodo Pointed shoes complemented her HOH. The combination made many to think that Luxury HOH has started producing shoes owing to the way the shoes and fabric complemented each other.
Many didn’t expect anything less, knowing how much Taofikat always invests in her good look. She is one of Ibadan rich celeb women who started making millions at early age. She started making her millions in her 20s. She built her first house in her 20s and started selling fabrics at Gbagi in Ibadan in her 20s. Till date she still sells fabrics. Her mother was a foremost fabric seller in Gbagi until she breathed her last. Her elder sister Is also a fabric merchant at Lagoon market in Lagos.
Her elder sister also sells fabrics in London. They are all top entrepreneurs of great repute.
Even the caps she adorned for her chieftancy title ceremony wasn’t regular. It stood out among other female chiefs. She walked in with the grace of nobility and a large number of guests. Of course, that wasn’t her first title. She has many big titles to her name. Last year, she got a title from Oba Adedapo Tejuosos Palace and many haven’t stopped talking about it till date.
Chief Taofeekat seldom holds parties, but when she does, she always leaves a big mark. She is one of those who pulls high and mighty to her party.
While many were still admiring her firat HOH lace, she later walked into the palace in a brown HOH lace with her best friend, Alhaja Titilayo Idera, one of the biggest Lagos Island fabric merchant. She is also very fashionable. The HOH was from Effizioni and they spotted another 18carat gold.
Who are those who stole the show? They are those who rocked best 18carat gold as their make-up dazzled. Some of them were Princess Toyin Kolade; Iyaloja General Folashade; Tinubu Ojo; Mrs Richbet, Mrs Abiola Abebi, Alhaja Yemtuns Fabrics, Alhaja Fausat Onifade, Alhaja Folashade Fashad, Alhaja Oyinlomo, Arise Fabrix’s boss, Alhaja Khadijat Kadmos, and Alhaja Risikat Odumosu. Others were: Mrs Rose Osipitan, Yeye Bewaji Ayo Julius, Mrs Foluke Adeniyi-Jones, Alhaja Remi Bakinson, Alhaja Sherifat Olugnode, Remi Talabi, Olori Anjola Akinsanya, Alhaja Laide and her bestfriend, Alhaja Airat, Alhaja Taibat Mohbojubola Onisiga, Alhaja Lady B Custard, and Hon. Ramota Oniba.
What about Yeye Temitope Adabi Saranda and Olori Olabisi Akamo? They have always been a fashion pacesetters. They set pace for others to follow. Their 18carat gold was big, huge and unique. So also was Effizion’s boss. One of the biggest gold and HOH merchant in Lagos. So also was Cash Madam. She was not looking her age at all. She made stament with her collections of 18carat jewellery. She is one of the biggest gold collectors in Nigeria. Iyalode of Egba, Chief Mrs Alaba Lawson, also made a fashion stament despite her age. She didn’t look her age.
Others also made statements with their beautiful styles. Some of them were Mrs Bose Atoyegbe. Wuraola Talabi, Bimbo Balogun, the brain behind “My Baby And I” at Agidingbi, Lagos.
It was also an array of Ibadan celebrity women of style. They all came out in large number to felicitate with Oloye Taofikat Afolabi. One of them was Alhaja Bola Ologburo, the brain behind lace and fabrics in Ibadan. So, also was Mrs Bose Adedibu, Alhaja Iya Samuel among many others.
The gist is not complete unless we told you about Alhaja Taofikat’s 3rd HOH. It was specially designed for her and Alhaja Idera. It was not your regular HoH. You can call it “Banger”. Effizioni designed it only in 2 pairs. They rocked a sepecial 18carat gold, which was also designed with the HOH fabdics. Why won’t they? Idera and Taofikat play big in many businesses. Taofikat doesn’t only sell fabrics, she is one of the biggest hotel owners in Ibadan. Her hotel, PALMS77 is second home to many Governors, Ministers to mention a few. Her Ankara store is one of the biggest at Gbagi Tuntun till date. She is also a producer of soap. Her soap is the biggest soap patronised in Ibadan, Cotonue, and Seme.
